My Inner Brandi

September 3rd, 2008

How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something, but to be someone”~Coco Chanel.

When I started in the home based business industry almost two years ago, I was under the impression that I had to talk the talk and walk the walk of a sales professional. Well, guess what? I tried it for 8 months and it didn’t work!!! As I said before, I am by far a sales woman!

During a Dani Johnson training I was told to be myself. I thought yeah right, I am not a professional, I have no college degree, no credentials…I can’t be myself! But with nothing to lose I figured I would try it, after all I felt I was pretty good at rehabbing people, showing them the light at the end of the tunnel…being myself!

At that moment I decided to build my business like I was still rehabbing patients, instead of rehabbing my patients to better health through physical therapy, I rehabbed them to better health through Uri’s whole food nutritional products and by providing them with useful information!

I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders when I stopped selling, stopped acting like a networker and just submitted to my inner Brandi.

The Brandi that enjoys to make people laugh, that has no credentials, no college education, who can’t spell if her life depended on it, who’s kids are the reason why she is proud of her accomplishments and her ability to live by her own rules!

Cheers to Being You!

Has This Happened to You?

August 27th, 2008

“People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within”~Elizabeth Kubler Ross

Have you ever thought you knew someone so well until all of a sudden when under pressure they CRACK revealing their not-so-pretty colors? After working at Craig Hospital for several years, I found myself witnessing this particular setting day in and day out.

It separated the strong from the weak, the experienced from the newbie. More over, it separated the nursing staff who were there caring for their patients because they had compassion to do so. Like owning a Urilife home based business, nursing is one specialty that must be led with heart and not greed.

We are all human, we will all crack at times. But those whom possess this light from within will shine in any given situation.

Your Friend,

Brandi

Failure is That of an Illusion

August 22nd, 2008

“One great source of failure is found in a lack of concentration of purpose. There will be adverse winds in every voyage, but the able seaman firmly resists their influence, while h takes advantage of every favorable breeze to speed him on his course. so in our aims and pursuits we shall find much to counteract them, much to draw our attention from them, and, unless we are armed with a steadfast purpose, that can subordinate the lesser to the greater, that can repel hindrances, resist attractions, and, bend circumstances to our will, our efforts will not be crowned with success.”~ Unknown

The last few days have been spent in deep thought, yeah I do find a few spare moments in the day to think sometimes, lol!

What have I been thinking about?

All that I have given up in life, not that I am by any means regretful for the decisions I have made, but more for the fact that I have come to the realization that it is never too late to become what you might have been.  While the timing has never permitted me to do so, it has been a life-long dream to become a teacher.

The last few days, I have thought to myself WHY NOT?

Why can’t I go back to school, sure it will be difficult returning after 7 long years.  Yes, it will be time consuming.  And now with two young children in tow, you bet it will be hectic. I will be making more with Urilife than I would as a teacher, and yes I am scared to death of failing!

None of that Matters.

I am determined to do this, to prove to myself that I can do this!  I will no longer let fear stop me from growing to be the person I have always dreamed of becoming.  I will not fail, why?

Because failure is that of an illusion.  You can only fail unless you stop trying.  As long as you have faith, you can conquer any obstacle…even education for that matter!  Your faith is your greatest weapon against adversity, and with faith comes persistence.

When you embrace obstacles instead of giving in to them, you reaffirm that life is precious and worth fighting for.  You can’t let the fear of failure stand in your way from growing!!!

Is there anything you have put off for fear of failure?

Cheers to Education!

Are You More Committed to Your Dreams or to Your Reality?

August 12th, 2008

Urilife

If there is one thing I’ve learned since starting my Urilife Home Based Business almost a year ago, it’s that you need to serve as a model of integrity by meaning what you say and saying what you mean.

If you want respect, you need to demonstrate to your team, family, friends and community that when you say you are going after your dreams, you mean it!

“Let go of the past and go for the future. Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagined.” -Henry David Thoreau

The road to making your dreams come true starts with where you are now. Most people fail at making their dreams happen because they did not make an honest assessment of where they were and where they wanted to be. They allowed that inner voice to make them quit before they even got started.

Has this happened to you?

We all fall short at times, we are only human and aside from what some may think, not one of us is perfect! If you allow your self sabotaging ways to flood into your dreams soon that negative attitude, those beliefs and ultimately your fears will not only be your reality but it will also become your dream.

What is my dream, you ask?

I want to be the healthiest I have ever been. I want to share this passion with my family and friends and anyone else who will listen for that matter:~) I want to find the balance between raising my children and providing for them financially as well. I long to find a way to get out of debt and no longer allow our check book to dictate our fate for the month.

This is my dream and I am 100% committed to making it happen and guess what, it is happening! While it was difficult at first, my family and friends now see just how committed I am and they now support me in making this dream a reality!

Which are you more committed to, your dream or your reality?

If the answer is your dream, prove it. Demonstrate that you are serious about achieving your dream by taking action today!

See You at the Top!

Recognizing our Dependencies

August 1st, 2008

Last September, Bill Maher was very vocal about how our food and water supply are deteriorating. He also made note of the increase of sickness and disease along with the rise in pharmaceutical use. In a comedic way, this video can help us recognize our dependencies on the pharmaceutical drug companies and hopefully give us that extra push to make an effort and break free by changing our diets and ultimately our lifestyles.

On the other hand, drugs like hoodia and cialis are available online but except for phentermine and viagra, majority does not have a strong line of action.

Be the Change!

Relaxation…

July 9th, 2008

…what’s that??? I looked at the calendar today and realized that we have been going none stop for the last 25 days!!! Vacation…hmmmm, might need another one just to recover from this trip!

While we have been busy, we are having tons of fun too. We finally made it up to the Rocky Mountains on Saturday. There, we enjoyed the fresh mountain air with its views galore. The kids had a blast riding on the tractor, playing ball, fishing and to end the trip we went 4 wheeling in my uncles jeep.

Once we got home I received a call from my cousin who was on her way to the hospital to deliver number 3. So I got the kids to bed and rushed to the hospital just in time. I am so grateful I was able to be here for her.

You see, both of our mothers passed away unexpectedly 6 months apart from each other. It happened 5 years ago, but seems like yesterday. Her and I are more like sister, and I can’t help but feel that given the circumstances, my presence made a difference. Any how, the delivery went very well.

The last two days were spent recuperating. Let me tell ya, it was needed! Tomorrow we will drive up to Erie to see another uncle. On our way back I plan on driving through Estes Park to catch some more gorgeous views. I can’t wait to get home just so I can download all my pics to show you!

I’m trying really hard to see all of my friends, family, keep an eye on my Urilife business, visit all of the beautiful sites Colorado has to offer and drink The Feast so I have the energy to do so, but I am wondering…where did the last 25 days go??? Hopefully, I won’t lose anymore!

Love,

Brandi

Urilife Made it Across Country!

June 17th, 2008

So the kids and I landed in Denver about 1:30am on Sunday and I think today is the first day we are actually feeling like ourselves again. Well, with the exception of Sam, I am pretty sure she has a bit of altitude sickness. We’ll take today to spruce her up a bit so we can enjoy this wonderful weather we are having!

I just realized I never did tell you why I am out here for so long. In case your inquisitive mind needs to know, there is something in Denver’s water supply that is causing an epidemic of pregnancies. My friend had a little boy a few months ago, my cousin had a little girl a few days ago and my other cousin is to have a little girl a few weeks from now.

No I didn’t come out here to get pregnant! I came out here to support all those who were, are and are going to be mothers. I think after a month I will have either settled my baby fix for a few more years or I will be longing to have another right this instant. What do you think?

I am happy to say that taking a home base business across country is easier than expected. 2000 miles away doesn’t make a difference when you have been marketing consistently on the Internet.

Believe it or not, that work actually starts working for you. All of the articles, blog posts, chats with friends in forums, everything…it all starts driving traffic to your site for you.

I like to think of it as “working smarter, not harder”.

Not to say you can stop working once it does, it just makes it refreshing to know that you can comfort your sick child or enjoy the day in the sun without having to worry about loss of income.

The best part about your work is the fact that all you are doing is making friends with people. There are no sales pitches, no hype, no lies…you get to serve people by being yourself from any where around the world, can’t beat that!

Hope you are enjoying your day!

Dilemma: Taking Urilife on the Road

June 12th, 2008

I am about to embark on a milestone with my Urilife home based business. On Saturday, June 14, 2008 Urilife and I are taking the kids and hitting the road for a month long vacation back home. Yup you heard me right! A month, can you believe it? It still hasn’t set in that we will be gone that long…I’m sure it will once we are there!

Where is home you ask? Colorado! We plan on staying with family and friends, all of which are pretty spread out within the state. So there will be lots of people to see and places to visit. We are quite excited, it’s been almost two years since we sold our house and moved to Rhode Island. Two years of missing family, friends and mountains!

On to the dilemma, well I think I have it under control (KEYWORD: think). The summer months are hands down the best time for building a strong business. Why? Because most people don’t realize this. They get that summer bug up their butt, forget about their contacts, and all their hard work is lost.

No competition=The perfect opportunity for you!

I am not about to lose this perfect opportunity to grow, and I hope you don’t either. Since I am going to be gone an entire month, it’s not totally a vacation but I definitely don’t want to make it a business trip either. One again, I enter the “balancing act”. Luckily as a WAHM of a six year old and a two year old, this isn’t at all new to me.

In fact, it seems to be the story of my life:~) Here are some solutions I came up with to make my trip a bit easier as well as business friendly:

  1. Pack Light. Where ever ya go you’re bound to find a washer and dryer, no need to have a suitcase packed with 30 days worth of clothes. Besides you always manage to go home with more than you left with, at least I do anyway.
  2. Pack Wise. When traveling with kids always make sure you have your carry on packed to the max. Bring snacks, drinks, toys (preferably quiet toys) and anything else you can think of to occupy their little minds.
  3. Call ahead. Make sure your flight hasn’t been canceled for one, but they may also have a few tricks up their sleeves to making your flight enjoyable. I actually called to make sure someone from the airport can assist the kids and I on the plane. I’m as strong as any man, but carrying my 25lb boy, 30lb car seat, 20lb backpack all while holding my daughters hand without breaking a sweat is a bit much, don’t you think?
  4. Locate Your WIFI. If taking a laptop, make sure you identify all of your hot spots either before or after you arrive to your destination. Most phone companies now offer a wireless plan for about $50 a month, which of course is a tax write off.
  5. Locate A Computer. If you’re like me and have a hubby that won’t let you take the laptop, make sure you have a computer with Internet access where you will be staying. Isn’t it nice knowing you can build a business from any where in the world as long as you have a phone, computer and internet access?
  6. Set Alarms. If the only time you have to work is before the kids get up or after the kids go to bed, do it! At home I am up before the rest of the family so I can catch up on my emails, get my schedule ready for the day or just have some me time. Why not do the same while I’m away? I will be using my cell as my alarm clock as well as a reminder for any appointments I have.
  7. Eat Right. There’s nothing worse than going on vacation and gaining 10lbs. Make sure you don’t use your vacation as an excuse to eat lowzy. Yes the first meal I get will be a huge heaping green chili burrito but after that I will stick to my fruits, veggies, nuts and sprouts. Luckily The Feast comes in little packets so the kids and I can easily get our 5-9 fruits and veggies while running wild!
  8. Have FUN!!! Remember to respect your family time as much as your business time and they too will respect you and your business. Don’t get upset if you have to reschedule an appointment, no one is perfect. As much as I try, I rarely have it all together! That’s the best part about working from home, you don’t have to be perfect. Aren’t you relieved?

How do you handle keeping up with work deadlines and communications while you’re on the road? I’m all ears when it comes to suggestions or even better, solutions:smile:

Always and Forever,

Brandi

Let Your Light Shine!

April 7th, 2008

Have you ever wondered why it’s so hard to change bad habits?  You know in your heart that you need to change but every time you do you have a ton of bricks collapsing before you.

It’s like we were all designed for failure.  I know that is not true, but do you?

God did not create us to be average, yet so many fall pray to the same old routine.  Not because they like it but because that routine is comfortable.  But is it, are you really happy with your life?

Yes, we inherited death and sin but thanks to Jesus we have a chance to change.  Before I understood the truth I told myself that God would not give me any obstacle that I cannot handle.

Now I realize that yes God will not let me endure anything I cannot handle but God is not the one placing struggles in my life.  I don’t know what your beliefs are, but know that you are not alone.

Know that you are loved and the struggles you encounter are worth the effort if it means letting your light truly shine!

Forever and Always,

Brandi
