Quote of the Day: Two Life Paths
“Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has make all the difference.”
~Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken
Have you ever reached a crossroad in your life? If so, which path did you chose to walk?
Always,

Anyhow, let’s get on with our yummy food of the week. What creamy, green delight will I be talking about this week? The Avocado of course!!! I must admit; now that I have been on an Avocado kick for the last several weeks, I can definitely see why it’s often referred to as the “chocolate” of fruits.
Since swimsuit season is fast approaching I did find myself asking, “how can eating fat, not make me fat?” The answer: When it’s a healthy fat! Contrary to popular assumptions, the avocado can actually be a helpful part of a successful weight-management program. For instance, the avocados monounsaturated fat content is great for speeding up your metabolism as well as giving you that full feeling to prevent you from over eating.
Some More Fun Facts:
- Avocados are a fruit, not a vegetable, belonging to the genus Persea in the Lauraceae family.
- Avocados are sodium- and cholesterol-free and have only five grams of fat per serving, most of it the monounsaturated kind.
- Avocados were once a luxury food reserved for the tables of royalty, but now California avocados are enjoyed around the world by people from all walks of life.
- Brazilians add avocados to ice cream
- Filipinos puree avocados with sugar and milk for a dessert drink.
- The avocado is also called an Alligator Pear because of its pear-like shape and green skin.
- Avocado is a corruption of the Spanish word aguacate, which is in turn a corruption of the Aztec word ahuacatl.
- California produces about 90% of the nation’s avocado crop.
- San Diego County is the Avocado Capital of the U.S., producing 60% of all the avocados grown in California.
- There are about 7,000 avocado groves in California; the average size is around 10 acres.
- A single California avocado tree can produce about 500 avocados (or 200 pounds of fruit) a year although usually average about 60 pounds from 150 fruit.
- There are seven varieties of avocados grown commercially in California, but the Hass is the most popular, accounting for approximately 95% of the total crop volume.
- California avocados grow year-round.
Protein, vitamins A and E, potassium and fiber are just a few of the avocados 20 beneficial nutrients! Replace the fatty, processed crap with one of these gems and you too can achieve True Optimal Health! It make me salivate just thinking about this yummy “Green Chocolate”. Can’t wait to give you the Avocado and Tomato Salad Recipe I’ve been filling up on everyday!
Stay Tuned,

Business, Health, Natural Remedies | Comments (1)How Can I Work from Home with Kids Jumping on Me?
I was recently flipping through a copy of Success Magazine, when I found myself laughing hysterically at the site of one of the advertisements for a home based business. Come on, who really works from home dressed to the 9 with kids on their lap surrounded by a beautiful house?
The reality is, yes there are about 6 million Americans currently working from home, half of which probably do so in a house filled with noisy children, barking dogs and heaps of laundry piled on the coach. It’s advertisements like these that give us false pretenses and have us feeling like failures when we come to the realization that we’re not Clevers!
If this is you, know that you are not alone in your balancing act. Here are a few ideas to help you succeed when you have a household all competing for your undivided attention:
1. Let go of the perfectionism. No one is perfect. You are going to have interruptions, delemias and complete chaos at times. That’s okay! I can’t tell you how many times my 18 month old has been the ice breaker as he snatched the phone out of my hand to say “Hi”. Hey, it’s a great conversation starter!
If by chance someone gets offending, I thank them for their time and tell them that this is not the team for them. Simple as that! Learn to let go and just be YOU!
2. Make your family your top priority. Instead of multi-tasking your way to success, or should I say depression, take care of your family and then set aside a time to work on your business. You and I both know how hard free time is to come by so make sure you use this time productively.
And if you don’t get everything done, write them on your to do list for the next day. Just make sure you put your focus on all the things you did. Even if it was taking the kids out for ice cream and going to the park for the day! Some thing to think about: Muli-tasking lowers your IQ more than smoking marijuana.
3. Put together a special work box only to be taken out while you are working. For my 6 year old daughter’s box we have a variety of arts and crafts and for my 18 month old son’s we have his Finding Nemo DVD and a ton of cars and trucks.
Be sure that you value your time with your children and much as you value you the time spent building your business. That means keeping to your scheduled hours of work. The more your family sees you respect them the more they will not only respect you and your business but will also be more apt to help out as needed.
Working from home with children in the house can be daunty but instead of making them your excuse not to run a home based business make them your reason why you are running a successful home based business.
I make a great income working just 3 hours a day, 4 days a week. My Uri Life business continues to grow strong with each passing month all while my kids are on my lap trying to delete my files, smearing bananas across my face and using my leg as a jungle gym.
If I can do it, YOU CAN TOO! Just don’t expect me to answer my phone when you call. It’s not because I am avoiding you, it’s because my 18 month old has decide to play hide and seek with the darn thing and I am still trying to find it!
To Your Success!

Did you know that today is Women Get Some Respect Day?
In 1967, Aretha Franklin released her hit record, “Respect.” Let’s honor all women today by showing them the respect they deserve! Women are Strong, Passionate, Determined. Hold your head up and be proud to be a Woman! To remind yourself just how phenomenal woman are, this is one of my favorite poems by Maya Angelou…
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me. Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery. When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts, The grace of my style. I’m a woman, Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me. Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care, ‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
The Power of Advertising Co-ops
Many of you have already heard our new Uri Life radio commercial. It aired about 2 weeks ago in Salt Lake City, UT, San Diego, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Las Vegas, NV and Dallas, TX. Soon Uri Life will be heard on your radio nationwide!
What many of you do not know is this radio commercial is part of a very large team of individual business partners all participating in an advertising co-op.
What is a co-op?
A co-op is where a group of people split the cost of an ad, and then all the leads and/or orders are distributed among all the participants based on their percentage of participation.
What Benefits can you expect for participating?
1) You are able to get big expensive ads in magazines, radio and TV without having to invest the big bucks!
2) The risk of failure is greatly minimized so that if an ad does not pull well nobody loses the whole cost of the ad.
What if you chose Not to participate?
It’s a win win situation regardless! Because of the mass media exposure Uri Life is branding itself for you. As long as you have your golden arch out and open for everyone to see both on the Internet and in your home town people will hear about Uri Life and will know to find you. Pretty cool, eh?
If the company you are currently with is not offering such exposure I suggest finding one that is!
Get Excited, Uri is about to Explode!
