I was a "guinea pig" baby. My parents received free soy formula back in, ahem, 1962, when it was just being test marketed. I developed such a taste for it that growing up I preferred soy milk to cow's milk.

Those "five birth control pills worth of estrogen" that I was consuming daily wrecked havoc on my young body: allergies, thyroid dysfunction, depression, headaches, sinus infections, chronic fatigue, weight gain, polycystic ovaries, edema. Of course, we never knew it was from the soy. As an adult, not only did I drink soy milk daily, but I discovered tofu and added it into my diet on a regular basis.

A couple of months ago, I read an article about soy being the most mucus-forming plant on the planet and made the decision to eliminate it entirely from my diet. WOW, the detox that ensued! Let's just say that I had buckets of mucus being expelled from every bodily orifice imaginable!
