3 Tips to Stop Kisses from Making YOU Fat!

August 18th, 2008

We all over indulge sometimes, but very few of us realize just how powerful proximity can be for promoting that overindulgence. When I worked at Craig Hospital, I swear I packed on 10lbs for each holiday. All of our patients would bring us chocolate kisses to show their gratitude. If you don’t know by now, if it’s in front of me, I’m eatin’ it!

Apparently I’m Not Alone

A study done at the University of Illinois using Hershey’s Kisses showed that when workers kept chocolate on their desk, they ate an average of nine per day. When the chocolate was moved just six feet away, they ate an average of four per day.

3 Tips to Stop Kisses From Making YOU Fat:

  1. You know the old saying, “Out of Sight, Out of Mind.” Well, go hide it so you aren’t tempted!
  2. Dump out the jar of candy, fill it with some raw nuts and make sure you have plenty of fruits and veggies in close proximity instead.
  3. When all else fails and you can’t rely on willpower, don’t bring chocolate into the house! No need to be ashamed, I can’t bring chocolate into my house unless is raw cocoa powder:~)

So where do you have your kisses hiding?

Love,

Brandi

I hide my kisses in my back pocket.

Makes ‘em all gooey and adds fuzz…

Dark chocolate is my nemesis. I just don’t buy it too often, so I’m not too tempted.

And, sadly, I’ll settle for chocolate chips. I DO need to find a place to hide them - but my wife might not be happy if I start hiding the baking goods (although we’d still have them since they wouldn’t be eaten ahead of time).

Out of sight out of mind is a good one, if it’s in the cupboard you’re going to eat it - which leads onto my tip - don’t go shopping hungry, you will end up buying everything and too much of it!
